March 2026 NAIT Hiring Fair

Junior Business Systems Developer

About the role

We’re looking for a student or new grad who is motivated to own the discovery of what an internal business app needs to do — and then help build it. You’ll lead conversations with potential users to understand workflows and friction points, translate that into clear functional requirements, and keep that knowledge organized and usable.

Your build work will focus on internal tools built on Microsoft Power Platform, especially Power Apps + Dataverse.

Primary Role: Discovery & Requirements

  • Run short discovery sessions with staff to understand current workflows, pain points, terminology, and what “good” looks like.
  • Turn multiple diverse inputs into clear outputs: functional requirements, user flows, and a prioritized backlog.
  • Maintain a clear boundary of scope: what we are building now vs. later (and what we are not building).

High-Impact: Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Write and organize documentation in SharePoint so it becomes the source of truth for requirements, decisions, and workflows (clear “how-to” pages, screenshots, structured notes).
  • Keep artifacts traceable and version-aware so people can understand what changed and why.

Secondary: Power Platform Build Support

  • Build and improve internal tools using Power Apps canvas apps and Dataverse, implementing the requirements you helped discover.
  • Contribute to small iterative releases.

Core skills we're looking for

  • Discovery mindset: you can talk to people, identify friction points, and translate that into functional requirements and priorities.
  • Strong written communication (you’ll write docs people actually use).
  • Basic programming/scripting fundamentals and comfort learning new tools quickly.

Nice-to-have technical skills

You don’t need experience with all (or any) of these, interest and willingness to learn matter more.

  • Comfort learning PowerFx (Power Platform canvas language)
  • Working with HTTP/REST and JSON for automation/integrations
  • Bonus: awareness of integration patterns via the Dataverse Web API
  • Bonus: familiarity with Microsoft Graph for Microsoft 365 integrations (REST + OData)
  • Bonus: exposure to solution packaging / ALM workflows
  • Bonus: exposure to ASP.NET and/or Blazor (we also develop on this stack, but it’s not the primary focus of this role).

Our operating context

COMDriver Tech operates as an independent certification body accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), based on ISO/IEC 17065:2012, is and recognized by Transport Canada for ELD certification activities.
Because of that, we care about how information is handled and how decisions are supported:

  • Impartiality matters: our policies emphasize impartiality in certification activities and include controls to prevent conflicts of interest and undue influence.
  • Risk-aware thinking: our procedures explicitly reference applying risk-based thinking and documenting risk-related observations where relevant.
  • Evidence-based work & documentation: we value clear, verifiable records and documented outcomes (what we did, what we observed, and why).

You don’t need prior ISO knowledge — but you do need to be comfortable working carefully, documenting clearly, and taking integrity seriously.
